The programme is designed to showcase the diversity of Malaysian cuisine, from richly spiced dishes and bold Sambal flavours to culinary traditions influenced by different communities and regions. Through this combination of food and cultural experiences, guests can discover some of the flavours and traditions that make Malaysian cuisine distinctive.

The official Rasa Malaysia opening ceremony will take place on 26 August 2026 at La Brasserie. The evening will welcome invited guests, representatives from the Consulate General, Malaysian partners and Hotel Nikko Saigon management, followed by special cultural performances celebrating the beginning of this Malaysian culinary journey.

II. Experience the Best of Malaysian Food and Culture at Rasa Malaysia

Rasa Malaysia offers more than a selection of Malaysian dishes. From distinctive flavours and traditional cooking techniques to cultural performances, each element is designed to bring the vibrant spirit of Malaysia to life at La Brasserie.

The experience allows guests to explore Malaysia through different senses. Food introduces the flavours and spices of the country, while live culinary demonstrations, music and dance add a cultural dimension to the dining experience. Together, these elements create a setting where Malaysian food becomes a bridge to the traditions and hospitality of Malaysia.

1. Discover Authentic Malaysian Food and Signature Dishes

One of the highlights of the food festival is its selection of Malaysian food, featuring distinctive spices, flavours and culinary influences from different parts of Malaysia.

  • Spicy Prawn Rendang features succulent prawns cooked in a rich and spicy Rendang sauce, bringing together an aromatic blend of distinctive Malaysian spices. Its bold flavour profile makes it a memorable introduction to the richness of Malaysian food.
  • Nyonya Tangy Fish combines tender fish with a vibrant, tangy Nyonya-style sauce. The dish reflects the distinctive flavours of Peranakan cuisine and offers guests an opportunity to discover another layer of Malaysian culinary heritage.
  • Mamak-Style Crab Curry features crab simmered in a fragrant, richly spiced Mamak-style curry. The combination of seafood and aromatic curry creates a hearty dish that highlights the depth of flavour found in Malaysian cuisine.

For guests who enjoy bold and spicy flavours, Melaka Sambal Squid brings tender squid together with a bold Sambal sauce inspired by the flavours of Melaka. Spicy Sambal Mussels similarly combines mussels with an aromatic Sambal spice mixture, adding another seafood highlight to the selection.

Together, these dishes showcase the diversity and richness of Malaysian cuisine, allowing guests to explore the flavours of Malaysia without leaving Saigon.

2. Meet the Malaysian Guest Chefs at Rasa Malaysia

Adding an authentic touch to the experience, Rasa Malaysia welcomes two guest chefs from Malaysia, each bringing their own culinary expertise and Malaysian traditions to the event.

  • Chef Zainal will showcase the excitement of the Flying Pancake and Teh Tarik Show, recreating the theatrical techniques behind these beloved Malaysian favourites. The lively demonstrations offer guests an entertaining way to experience the artistry behind Malaysian food and discover how traditional food preparation can become part of the dining experience.

The Flying Pancake performance adds a visual element to the event, while the Teh Tarik Show highlights the skill and theatrical flair associated with the preparation of this popular Malaysian drink. These live demonstrations allow guests to see Malaysian culinary traditions brought to life rather than simply experiencing them on the plate.

3. Immerse Yourself in Malaysian Culture Through Traditional Music and Dance

The Rasa Malaysia experience extends beyond food, with traditional Malaysian music and dance performances creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere at La Brasserie.

From 26 to 29 August 2026, a Malaysian cultural troupe will present two 30-minute performances each evening. Guests can enjoy the performances alongside their dinner, adding a lively cultural dimension to their Malaysian dining experience.

The cultural performances complement the culinary programme by offering guests another way to experience Malaysia. Rather than focusing solely on dishes, Rasa Malaysia brings together food and performing arts to create a more complete picture of the country’s cultural identity.
